CFA members rally at a CSU Board of Trustees meeting.
CFA members and other union siblings gather collectively at a CSU Board of Trustees meeting.

CFA members will mobilize at the November 17-18 CSU Board of Trustees meeting at the CSU Chancellor’s Office to demand a fair contract improving pay and working conditions for all faculty. This mobilization is a part of series of actions to demand the trustees recognize faculty workplace needs, and to “Fund the Classroom, not the Boardroom.”

CSU union siblings, elected political leaders, and community partners from across the state will join CFA in solidarity to take the fight directly to the chancellor and CSU Trustees in Long Beach. The action will occur on the final day that faculty can submit their Strike Authorization Ballots.

We need a strong showing at the board meeting. Register for the action here and tell your colleagues to do the same.

On Tuesday, November 17, CFA will host a press conference to call attention to how Chancellor Mildred García and the trustees have disrespected and devalued faculty members at the bargaining table. As higher education is under attack, and the cost of living is up, CFA’s bargaining proposal include key pieces on salary and workload as well as on AI guardrails and Academic Freedom protections.

Show the chancellor that faculty working conditions are student learning conditions, and the future of the CSU is at stake in our contract campaign to Fund the Classroom, Not the Boardroom.

As we exercise our collective power through the Strike Authorization Vote, the possibility of the CFA Board of Directors initiating job actions, up to and including striking, grows. CSU management can avoid a potential CFA strike by meeting our contract demands.

On Wednesday, November 18, we will hold our Board of Trustees Accountability Watch to observe, track, and hold the board accountable for the decisions they make.

You must also use this form to register to speak or be present at the Board of Trustees meeting. The deadline to register for public comment is 12 p.m., Friday, November 13.

For non-local attendees, the deadline to request hotel accommodations is Tuesday, November 10. All travel arrangements must be finalized no later than two weeks prior to your scheduled arrival date.

Together, we will show CSU management that we are committed to our fight for a fair contract.
